Four score and many tears ago
My heart got broken before
It wasn’t tears I cried of a lost love
But of a love that I’d feel no more
I tried to build my bridge and get over this river
Hoping that I’d stay afloat
But then I realized if the tide rised
That I didn’t have no boat
He hung himself with his own rope
Cause Universal law says what goes around comes around
Seven Fold
But this is the story of my daddy’s life,And it’s going to
be told
He sold this and that and hustled hard enough to get us fed
But we didn’t see the importance of it all
Didn’t think about what went on in his head
He drowned his sorrows amongst the crew at the local spot
I bet he just couldn’t live with the guilt of selling people
rocks
He was a dream seller
He sold dreams to beauty queens and Ghetto kings
They willingly participated in the destruction of their
lives They didn’t care
As long as they could get high
He stole Christmas gifts, birthday present and grocery money
He had everyone at his feet
But he did these things, beyond his means just so his
kids could eat
Locked up once, twice, three strikes you’re out
But without his freedom, finances went into a drought
So who provided when he stopped providing
No one, it was no fun, No more air jordans, no more new
clothes
Aldi brand food we ate
But its sad to see, ungratefully we didn’t want to eat the
food on our plates
I hurt inside because of the things he stole from people, he’s
missing so many of mine
Birthdays, graduation, he wasn’t there at the right times
Its funny how material people can be when someone else pays
the piper
But we sealing our fate, like pouring gasoline cause we
setting ourselves on fire
Failing to see the importance of what people got to do
But if you ain’t got no job and seven kids, what the hell
would you do?
