Trill Entertainment is a record label owned by U.G.K. Artists such as Lil' Boosie, Webbie, Big Head, and Foxx are signed. In the spirit of the Southern hip-hop, Trill Ent presents its roster of artists on May 22,2007 with Lil Boosie, Webbie, Foxx & Trill Fam: Survival of the Fittest. Headliners Boosie and Webbie, along with newcomer Foxx introduce the rest of the camp with 15 tracks that are true to the Trill Entertainment style of heavy hitting bass and lyrics that are true to the streets.
The camp includes Webbie, "Gimme That" and " Bad Chick"; Lil’ Boosie, "Zoom"; and Foxx, “Wipe Me Down” along with Mouse, the in-house hit-maker turned rapper; Phat, the young game-spitter; Shell, the raspy lyricist from New Orleans; Big Head, the knowledge giver; and Soulja Boy, the youngster with an old soul and youthful spirit.
Trill Entertainment launched in 2001 with a street certified endorsement from UGK’s Pimp C. Business owners Mel and Turk saw the lack of true street music coming from the south and collaborated to bring the vision of a label that put the sound of Baton Rouge on the map. That year, Boosie dropped the label’s first release “For My Thugz” and followed up with a duo album introducing himself and Webbie with “Pimp C Presents: Ghetto Stories” and later “Gangsta Musik” which brought recognition from across the nation.
“There aint no stopping me and Webbie,” states Lil’ Boosie. “The fans know… when we are comin, that’s a hit. No questions asked.”
Still underestimated by the masses because of what some consider simple beats and rhymes, Trill Entertainment resembles the successes of fellow Louisiana indie labels No Limit and Cash Money Records. The hard-hitting bass and snare drum beats have continued to prove successful for the artist as they continue to grow fans by the thousands daily.
Trill Fam: Survival of the Fittest features the break-out hit Wipe Me Down (Remix)” by Foxx featuring Lil’ Boosie and Webbie; “Adios” and “Do It, Stick It” all street club bangers that relates to the street as well as the dance floor.
“Wipe Me Down is a movement,” says Foxx who notes himself as the ‘last to sign, but the first of his kind’. “This is some different **** for Trill but we bringin’ all kinds of **** from under the table. We hit-makers and that’s the bottom line.”
With tracks by in-house producers Mouse, who is also featured as an artist and B.J., true Trill Entertainment fans will feel the 808 driven tracks that will keep their heads bobbin’. The music described as a street version of Southern funk differs from the neighboring New Orleans bounce, Atlanta snap/crunk and Houston’s screw. Trill’s production style uses heavy drum machines, live bass and guitar, synthesizers and keyboards. The two rhythmic producers work with different styles to make a selection of tracks that stretch far beyond the traditional sound of south.
Survival of the Fittest will prove to be a legendary record in the hoods of every city. The collection of street anthems and club bangers will continue to reign throughout the south and penetrate the unheard listeners across the nation.
In 2007, Trill Ent .will follow up with Foxx (Street Gossip), Webbie (Savage Life 2) and Ghetto Stories: The Movie starring Boosie , Webbie and Foxx as well as Nicole Alexander (Hoopz), Tyrin Tu
