Lil Wayne talks Rebirth to Billboard:

Given earlier leaks from the project, did you make many changes to the final version?
As of now Rebirth is coming out as a double disc with a [disc of songs] by Young Money. I had to add new cuts because a lot of things leaked, making people think they had an idea of what I was doing with Rebirth and what it would sound like. And I hated that because I never want anybody to think they know what I’m doing until I present it. So what I did was make it totally different I flipped it.

Does the album still lean toward rock?
Yes, the album is still rock. I play guitar on 80% of the songs and theres a lot of rock influences and rock beats. I also have Travis Barker on the album. But I dont want people to think Im trying to do something I cant do. Dont think youre going to put on the album and hear me screaming and singing . . . Dont worry about that [laughs]. When people hear me say rock, they may get a little scared like, Oh, God. What is he going to do? When I said I was doing a rock album, it was about doing a freedom thing. This album isnt hip-hop. When I do my Carter albums, I know Ive got to rap, I know Ive got to spit. I know the words Ive got to say and the subjects Ive got to talk about. I also know the things I shouldnt say, the things I shouldnt talk about. Theres none of those limits on this album. I say what I want, how I want. Thats what this album is: a freedom album. And rock is the avenue that gives you that freedom. Im just having fun, thats all. Trust me: People will like these songs. Its my job to make them love them, but I know for a fact theyll like them.

I don’t even UNDERSTAND the technology behind this, its mind-blowing really. Created by James Dyson, the name of it is the Dyson Air Multiplier. Its funny how new inventions always have those “lets name it after exactly what it does” names. If this truly is the future of the house fan, will it eventually replace the original house fan and become the new definition of what a house fan is? I’m sure time will sort all of that out. The simple explanation of what it does states; Theres a motor in the bottom that powers a turbo-charged impeller. Its essentially a 3-D fan that gives a good combination of flow and pressure. While I must admit that I didn’t see this coming, listening to it oddly enough seems appropriate. Over the years we’ve gotten glimpses of the man behind the moniker (Shawn Carter) from the various bouts he’s had with people who were at one time considered his right hand guys; Dame Dash, Peedi Peedi, Jaz-O, Tru Life…the list goes on. And now Beanie Sigel has been added to the list. The question is, are these all just cases of jealousy & embitterment, or is there some actual truth behind the rumors. I’d bet on the latter. In this new diss, Beanie states that he still has love for Jay Z, this is just one of those “bring-yo-brother-out-to-the-yard-and-whip-his-ass” moments. Do ya’ll think this is one shot Jay Z will have to respond to? And if he does have to reply, at what capacity? Will he just comment on-air, or will he go full on? If I were Jay Z, I’d use Kanye’s “Big Brother” beat, lol.

I must say that they KILLED this performance and its definitely as monumental of a performance in Jay Z’s career as his Glastonbury one. As a rap artist, its always an achievement to make a song that’s embraced pretty much across the board. Alicia seemed more prepared to hit them notes on the chorus this time around also. IMO, its safe to say that this is the perfect performance and a testament to the larger than life icon Jay Z has been transforming into over the past few years since his “retirement.” Not to mention, Alicia’s booty is just plain STOOPID! One ironic thing I want to point out is how the World Series sees the Yankee’s facing off with the Phillies, and simultaneously, Beanie just dropped a diss for Jay Z! Its crazy how the stars align sometimes, both outcomes will be worth tuning in for.

I love Mary for this. This is something that will directly impact the community that we both grew up in. The Mary J. Blige Center For Women is located @ 489 South Broadway in Yonkers, between Valentine Lane and St. Andrews Place, which is about 2 blocks from that sign you see at the top of this site, and about 3 blocks from the building I grew up in.

The center came about through a partnerhip between Mary and Steve Stoute’s new foundation (FFAWN),the Westchester Jewish Community Services and Gucci (the design house, not Mane). According to the FFAWN website:

…the new center will serve as a “one-stop shop” for women, making resources more accessible and more customized than they are now and allowing women it serves to gain access to services from which they would not otherwise benefit. The serves offered directly at the Center will initially fall primarily into three categories: education, parenting skills, and career training.

Mary and Stoute plan on opening several more centers in communities across the globe.

Props to Boss Lady for the coverage of this. I know she had to pass on the Better Recognize Showcase because she had to be at this early the next day, and I completly understand. Sometimes there’s more to the news than entertainment.
